Well, our energy troubles seem to be over, but my computer is still completely fried and my dad hasn't wanted to set up my res computer for the network so that's why I haven't been blogging much.
Anyway, Yzerman is finally signed again! Hooray for that. Oh, and this is a way late correction, but Cujo's ankle wasn't broken as I initially thought (and as, I believe, the press also stated) but he did have bone chips removed.
But yeah, the most exciting news is that my hockey buddy and friend Stephanie is back!! ^__^ Woohoo! Now the mania can start again--once hockey season starts, that is. =P
Oh, and I found out yesterday that Av tickets go on sale Sept. 20th, at 10am (Denver time, whatever that is)! Yippee! I can't wait to buy my tickets! I've already registered with ticketmaster, so... ^_^
And this is the REALLY exciting news! I think I might've mentioned that I still had a box of unopened UD Honor Roll cards waiting for Steph's return to open? Well, the first day she was back we tore into it, and I got a FORSBERG JERSEY CARD!!!! Woohoo! This's one of the rare times when I managed to pull something really good--good to me, anyway. The Giguere jersey card doesn't count because I didn't like him at the time.
So yeah. Going back to this thing about ticket sales, I've noticed that the Leafs site is really stupid. If they have any information on when the whole wristband thing is going to happen, it's really well hidden, which is stupid because people get wristbands so that they can buy tickets, i.e. give the Leafs money. XP I ought to email them and mention this to them; of course, I'd word more nicely than the way I put it here. =P
Anyway, I'm off to renew my HHOF Legends Club membership! ^_^ Apparently this year I get into the HHOF FREE with my membership, so you can guess what I'm going to be doing on lunch breaks when I'm on my own and have nothing else to do!
I'm still alive! We've still got energy troubles, so I'm doing my best to help out by not using my computer at home--as extra incentive, our A/C is off, and my window doesn't open, so running the computer turns my room into an oven. Not only that, but my comp's fried anyway.
So yeah, I'm actuallly writing this at work (the computer's on anyway, I might as well make use of it!).
Poor Cujo. I'm not a big fan, but I feel sorry for him. All the Hasek stuff and now a broken ankle? At any rate, it's one way for the Wings to save face, I suppose.
Anyway, I'm still saving for Colorado. Unfortunately, I've run into cash flow problems, so I actually owe myself (well, my Colorado fund) $80!! @_@ Kind of pathetic, huh? At least I'm keeping track! With that $20, I'll have $300!! And that's not including the $50+ from my coin savings. Things're looking good!
Well, lunch break is just about up! More later! (I really hope all this is resolved by the end of the week!)
Hey! Just thought I'd let you know that the massive power outages across the US and Ontario did indeed effect me, so until all that is resolved, I'm probably not going to be blogging again.
Our house actually got power back on at 11pm last night--the earliest among people we know, but I want to do my best to conserve energy so I'm not going to be using my computer if I can help it. (I'm using it now because a friend came over and needed to check up on her online tickets, so I figured I might as well make use of it since turning it on and off expends a lot of energy already.)
Anyway, for all you Canuck fans, here're some Forecaster predictions for the 2003-04 season which will make you happy, I'm sure:
Stanley Cup - Vancouver Canucks over Ottawa Senators
Hart: Todd Bertuzzi
Rocket Richard: Todd Bertuzzi
Conn Smythe: Ed Jovanovski
Okay, well I'll be back once the power situation is normalized! ^_^
Just when I was bemoaning how horribly long thi s post-season is feeling, the Sports Forecaster comes out, and my Hockey News Yearbook arrives!! Woohoo! Now that I have the Forecaster, I'm going to start planning for our pool!! Last year my goal was to be higher than last place (which I accomplished! yay! ^_^), so I think I'll improve on that a bit and say that this year my goal is to be in the upper-middle section of the pool! Hopefully that's not aiming too high... Last year I had a bit of the beginner's luck going, so I can't count on it again this year.
I'm VERY excited about it! I still haven't a clue as to when I should pick players, but at least this year I'll have more confidence in who I'm picking (and thus will not rely solely on Sam's suggestions). =P
Oh, and for all you Vancouverites out there, the Forecaster predicts that the Canucks will defeat Ottawa to win the Cup this season. =P Wishful thinking more than prediction I'd say (ducks and runs), but it is a nice thought I suppose. Oh, and the cover features Naslund and Bertuzzi, "the NHL's best 1-2 punch". Of course, when I saw that I thought about Lisa's survey answers in her 100th blog entry, and had to giggle.
Oh, and about the Team Canada and Blueliners Crew, you can read the post that I wrote when I first started the TC Crew here--the purpose is basically the same for the Blueliners Crew. But yeah, in a nutshell, the Crews are a way to show your, um, fandom....and to get some extra pluggage!
Woohoo!! Another member for my Team Canada Crew!! Go Nicole! Anyway, that's all I wanted to say for now. My internet's been wonky, so after all my struggles to update my fanlistings, I don't really feel like posting much. Later!
Woohoo! First addition to the Team Canada and Blueliners Crews in a long time!! (Does anyone else even remember my poor crews? =P) ^_^ Hooray for Neo!! Neo was also the first person to join my Mogilny Fanlisting, so add another hurrah for that! =D
And in other news, the Colorado Avalanche Fanlisting is now up, so please check it out and join! C'mon, everyone (in my only slightly biased opinion, of course ^_~) likes the Avs--except maybe Redwings fans. =P
I'm also rather pleased with the layout, although the text doesn't show up as clearly as I would like, and my layout style hasn't really changed or improved any from the Mogilny one. Really it's just the content--as much as I admire Mogilny, when it comes to my Avs, it's an entirely different level of admiration, love even.
Ah, and once again, thanks so much to Lisa for hosting all of my fanlistings: Giguere, Mogilny, Avs, and potentially Kaberle. OM.net is THE place for hockey sites!
Speaking of which, I don't think I've plugged it yet, but Lisa's also started a hockey web directory, allHEART! What a brilliant idea! Personally I've spent some time going through the various categories and checking out pages. ^_^ So yeah, if you haven't already, go check it out!!
Well, I discovered today that I really should stick with UD and BAP. On a whim (well, more as a result of having worked hard all day and feeling I deserved a treat--see LS for explanation), I decided that tonight I would go out and buy hockey cards from Untouchables, even though I knew they didn't have anymore BAP Between the Pipes cards. So I went there, looked around and decided on Private Stock Reserve.
Before I could ask to get some, however, another guy asked to get some Pacific 2004 cards. I figured I might as well get some of those too, since they were new, relatively cheap ($5), and had 8 cards (compared to 5) in a pack. So I ended up with 3 packs of the Pacifics and 2 of the Private Reserve. Apparantly for the Pacifics, on average every pack has one variant or insert card, but I managed to defy those odds in the negative sense--for at least one of the packs I had NO even remotely special cards. After opening the Pacifics I realized that I should've looked at the card design first, because even though they weren't ugly, they certainly weren't pretty like UD or BAP. Plus I was pretty upset that I didn't even get a single player I could be really happy about. The Private Stock packs weren't so bad at least--the cards were quite pretty.
Anyway, I was so disappointed in those Pacifics I ended up going back to the store to get two packs of the UD Mask Collection, just so I could feel satisfied with my hockey card experience of the day. I don't know why, but for some reason I'm always happy with UD, regardless of which players I actually get. Maybe it IS just because the cards are pretty. I really want more BAP Between the Pipes cards though. =( Too bad I've already told myself that I can't buy another box until the 2003-2004 series. I think I'm probably going to buy two boxes of Between the Pipes right off the bat next time though; I really love those cards!
Oh, and yes, I did match my card spending with an equal contribution to my Colorado account. ^_^ I'm still SO excited about going!
